3rd International Event
As part of the European Local Citizens project, funded through the CERV-2022-CITIZENS-TOWN NETWORKS OF TOWNS programme, the 3rd event took place successfully in Cullera, Spain. The event occurred on 19th of September 2024 and centred around "The Impact of the Maastricht Treaty and European Citizenship on Local Authorities and Gender Equality."
The agenda kicked off with a greeting from the President of the Mancomunitat de la Ribera Baixa. Several mayors from the member municipalities shared their perspectives on how the Maastricht Treaty has shaped gender equality and women's advancement in Europe.
Discussions continued with the Equality Techniques of the Mancomunitat, who emphasised areas where further progress in gender equality is needed. A round table discussion focused on the status of women in the European Union, showcasing local examples of advancements since the Maastricht Treaty.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Municipality of Vizela, especially to its Youth Councillor Nuno Faria, and the technical team from the youth department/education of the Municipality of Vizela, for their continued support and collaboration in making this project a success. We extend our gratitude to all participating municipalities and look forward to future collaborations on this significant project.
