Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV)

Torrejón de Ardoz, Spain

1st International Event

The European project SOLIDARITOWN on Christmas and solidarity kicked off in Torrejón de Ardoz, Spain, during the 18th and 19th of April. Coordinated by the Christmas Cities Network and the City Council of Torrejón de Ardoz, the international event gathered representatives from various European cities to share best practices on organizing Christmas projects and promoting solidarity. Topics discussed included Christmas markets, advertising campaigns, social events, digitalization, and sustainability. Notable participants included representatives from companies such as CIVITATIS and Productores de Sonrisas, as well as Mr. Salvador Garriga, former Member of the European Parliament. SOLIDARITOWN, funded by the European Union, aims to foster civic engagement and European values, particularly solidarity and unity, among young people across Europe. It seeks to address current challenges such as the war in Ukraine by promoting collaboration between cities and citizen participation in promoting peace, justice, and social inclusion. Through international conferences and partnerships with various organizations, SOLIDARITOWN aims to celebrate diversity and solidarity during the Christmas season while addressing pressing issues in Europe and beyond.
