Event 3

From 23–25 September 2025, the Act Green – Active Cities, Green Cities project gathered partners, municipalities, and experts in Budapest and Veresegyház, Hungary, for an international workshop dedicated to renewable energy and the role of municipalities in Europe’s green transition.

This meeting was not only about exchanging knowledge — it was about experiencing how local solutions can power Europe’s future.

Key Moments of the Workshop

◉ Best Practice Sharing: Municipalities from across Europe presented their sustainability initiatives, showing how cities and towns are leading the way in renewable energy and citizen engagement.

◉ Expert Insight: An opening lecture from the National Society of Conservationists (NSC) provided valuable context on Hungary’s green policies and opportunities for municipalities.

◉ Field Visit to Veresegyház: Participants discovered one of Hungary’s most successful geothermal district heating systems, a practical and inspiring example of how local renewable energy solutions can serve entire communities.

◉ Networking & Reflection: The day concluded with a gala dinner at the Buda Castle – Főőrség Restaurant, where partners reflected on the day’s learning and explored new pathways for cooperation.
