Overview

About the project

Act Green builds upon the success of the "Active Cities for EU" project to promote citizen participation in shaping democratic and environmental policies at local, regional, and European levels. Inspired by the principles of the European Green Deal and the Conference on the Future of Europe, the initiative seeks to empower citizens—especially women and youth—by fostering a bottom-up approach to civic engagement. Act Green connects citizens, NGOs, public authorities, and private entities to co-create solutions for climate change, energy, and sustainability challenges while embedding participatory practices in policymaking.

Our aim

Objectives

Act Green aims to enhance democratic participation and environmental stewardship by:

◉ Deepening citizen engagement in EU democratic processes.

◉ Facilitating discussions on climate action, energy, and migration to inspire local solutions.

◉ Showcasing successful collaborations between public, private, and NGO sectors in climate mitigation.

◉ Expanding networks to foster long-term partnerships for European integration and green transformation.

OUR EVENTS

Activities

Act Green employs innovative event formats to engage citizens actively:

◉ Living Labs: These user-centric workshops focus on real-world challenges, fostering collaboration among diverse community members to develop practical solutions.

◉ European Citizens’ Panels: Adapted for local contexts, these panels simulate EU-level participatory formats to empower attendees and familiarize them with deliberative democracy practices.

◉ Satellite Events: Registered as part of the European Climate Pact, these events create a continuous dialogue about sustainability, linking grassroots initiatives with broader EU goals.

Our focus

Target audience

Act Green primarily targets citizens who are underrepresented in civic engagement, particularly women and young people. By prioritizing these groups, the project aims to elevate diverse voices and perspectives in environmental and democratic policymaking. It also reaches out to local authorities, NGOs, and businesses, encouraging collaboration to amplify the impact of sustainable practices.
